Hot Chocolate with a Twist

Hot Chocolate is the ultimate comfort and warming treat to drink during the festive season with whipped cream and melt-in-your-mouth marshmellows, but nothing beats a homemade Deluxe Hot Chocolate made with your favourite flavours. For an extra chocolatey sweet treat to enjoy on Christmas Eve, I am going to share with you a very special and easy recipe followed by some flavour variations that you could try out.

RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
600ml Milk
142ml Double Cream
100g Chopped Chocolate

METHOD
1. Pour and add the ingredients into a saucepan, and melt them together over the hob.
2. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil whilst continuously whisking.
3. Serve and enjoy!

FLAVOUR VARIATIONS
COCONUT
Are you a bounty chocolate bar lover? It's super easy to switch up your hot chocolate to create a delicious chocolatey and coconutty drink! Follow the recipe as shown above but instead of using 142ml Double Cream, swap it for 142ml of Coconut Milk.

PEPPERMINT
The delicious Christmas flavour of peppermint is amazing swirled into a homemade hot chocolate. This flavour variation couldn't be more easy to do. Follow the recipe above and then take a peppermint candy cane or lollipop and stir it around in your drink until you have your desired peppermint flavour.

PEANUT BUTTER
I am obsessed with anything that contains peanut butter, so a peanut butter flavoured hot chocolate is amazing! To make a peanut butter hot chocolate just follow the recipe above and then add 5 tbsp of smooth peanut butter!

ORANGE
For a sweet and zesty flavour in your hot chocolate, follow the recipe above and add in 1tbsp of orange zest!
BAILEY’S
It’s so simply! Follow the recipe above and then add a 1bsp of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
I hope you enjoy trying out these flavour variations in your hot chocolate this Christmas! If you know of any other flavour ideas please leave them in the comments below! This blog post is a collaboration with my beautiful blogger friend Charlotte from www.scarletslippers.co.uk so make sure you head over to her blog to read all about her favourite hot chocolate!
