I love shopping online! As a blogger I spend a lot of time online, so it seems fitting to shop online too. I understand that online shopping comes with return issues and the inability to try items on, and don't get me wrong wandering in and out fashion stores, boutiques and markets looking for items to purchase is still very much a favourite pastime of mine, but there are so many great things about shopping online and that's what I'm going to talk about in this post!
1. HOT & SWEATY QUEUES - NO THANK YOU!
Urgh is there anything more annoying than having to stand in a long queue in next to a sweaty old man and a family with screaming kids!? Apparently us brits love standing in queues, but for me I can't stand it. Online shopping means I can skip the queues and order things when I want to. If I want to take it slow and order my items the next day I can, or if I'm in a rush I can order asap - perfect!
2. MORE VARIETY
Shopping online opens you out to more variety of items. The internet has now allowed us to order from across the globe from several different websites and stores. You can order clothes from China, America, France, Russia, Italy, Brazil, India etc all from your bedroom, and without moving a muscle!
3. RELAXATION ACTIVITY
The expression 'Shop til you drop' always seems to be the way when my friends and I decide to do some retail therapy. Walking in and out of stores, wandering around Bluewater in circles and walking up and down flights of stairs can become very tiresome and my feet always ache. Plus the fact we are usually carrying lots of bags, and dodging in and out of crowds of shoppers. Shopping online is the alternative as you can order clothes in bed, in your pjs, whilst listening to music or eating snacks. I love scrolling through ASOS with a latte in my hand and my 'Chill' playlist playing on repeat - my ultimate relaxation activity!
4. ONLINE EXCLUSIVES
Working as a sales assistant in New Look I deal with lots of cases when a customers approaches me with the question 'Can you tell me where this item is?' and I have to tell them that the item is only available online. Retail stores always provide extra items online and even some items in other sizes such as a size 4. Online exclusive ranges such as maternity, plus size etc are also available on the internet. Some retail stores are online only such as Boohoo, Missguided and Coconut Lane (20% off with the code lilyrose20) - as well as the amazing Amazon!
5. THE LESS MANIC SALES
Sales...dun dun dunnn! A sales assistant's nightmare, and a customer's also! Sales are amazing due to the highly discounted items available, but the chaos that comes with the sales are horrendous! I much prefer to shop sales online so that I can grab the bargains without having to wade and sieve through piles and rails of clothes - most that have been flung across the floor or have makeup stains on them! You can sit on your sofa of an evening and simply scroll through the items on offer.
6. MORE CHANCE OF FINDING YOUR SIZE
I always refine my search when shopping online so that I can scroll through items that are my size. It's super annoying when you try on a dress and you love it but it would look better in a size down and the store that you are in doesn't have it in that size! Most times that this has happened, the size is available online - result! Smaller or larger sizes are available online too such as size 4 or plus sizes.
7. SEE WHAT YOU ARE SPENDING
As a student I always need to be careful what I'm spending so that I don't end up broke... This means that when I shop online I click Sort by - Price Low to High - so that I can hopefully find a bargain! Shopping online stops that occasional surprise you get when you reach the tills in a store and the items you are buying have come to more than you thought they would... Shopping on the internet means you can keep an eye on your basket filling up, and can save items to your wishlist to purchase after payday!
8. FASHION SUGGESTIONS
I love to look online for fashion inspiration and new in trends - online stores are the perfect place for this information! It's clear and easy to shop new trends and outfit ideas, as well as most retail companies having a blog which you can read and follow.
9. DISCREET PURCHASING
Have you ever bought an embarrassing product and had a awkward moment with the sales assistant at the till or have you had to buy a Christmas or birthday gift? Shopping online gives you privacy and secrecy so you can buy that big, fluffy, LED Christmas jumper without any weird looks, and that pairs of Mr Grumpy socks for Dad at Christmas.
10. SAVING MONEY
If you are a sucker for the impulse buys available at the tills such as the packets of chewing gum, lip balms or bags of sweets that you pick up while you are queueing then you may be saving money by purchasing online? Many websites also offer discounts and coupons when you order online which could be another way of you saving money!
11. NO NEED FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT OR DRIVING
Having to get the tube back from Westfield Stratford in rush hour is not fun (emphasis on the not), or the traffic coming back from Bluewater... I much prefer the not moving option where I can shop in a stress free environment without crowds or having to pay for transport or parking.
12. NO NEED FOR A PURSE BULGING WITH RECIEPTS
Sadly I have a bulging purse...not with money but with receipts! Receipts after receipts are stuffed in my purse after purchases and returns of items. Shopping online means that receipts are simply sent by email - brilliant!
13. EASY TO FIND WHAT YOU WANT
Looking for a certain item such as a denim jacket or black flip flops? Instead of having to ask a sales assistant in a store or having to search around the shop endlessly looking for this one item, you can just type into the search bar what you desire to find and it will appear as if by magic tada!
14. DELIVERY
Who doesn't love a parcel arriving at your doorstep? I love receiving things in the post, and unwrapping a little purchase - it's like a gift to myself from myself! If you wanted to treat someone else to something you can send the items to them directly too!
Overall I love shopping online and I just need to make sure it doesn't lead to an addiction...
